This paper seeks to explore the advantages of cinema as a didactic tool
in history teaching. It analyzes the origins of cinematography and the
effects it has on the viewer. The theoretical basis relies on perspectives from specialists in the cinematic field, and previous experiences are drawn upon through the use of cinema forums as a learning tool. In practice, a lesser preference for long and old documentaries was observed, with a greater receptivity towards documentaries and films produced by commercial companies. Likewise, it was confirmed that learning is more meaningful when supported by audiovisual resources. Finally, there is reflection on the significance of educating through cinema, and guidance is provided for the promotion of documentaries and other audiovisual productions .
